Shimba Hills > Pre-school | Neema is Swahili word meaning 'Grace'. We serve many communities in the local area. The school is committed to sharing the love through all of our activities. Our goal is for children to experience the love of Christ as they receive formal education. This rapidly expanding ministry serves children from the local area. The preschool started in April 2006 with just 15 in attendance. As of April 2007, there are 80 children with many more who would like to come. Many of the children walk for an hour or more to attend the preschool and the majority of children come from non-Christian homes. In August 2008 there was a total of 95 boys and girls at the school. |
A unique feature of the preschool is its playground. The playground was built in April 2006 by an outreach team from Mechanicsville Christian Center, in Mechanicsville, Virginia. It is the only children’s playground in the area. Children will come early to school so they can enjoy the playground. Amazingly, it causes parents to want their children to attend the Neema pre-school.
The school has three classes: KG 1, KG 2, and KG 3. We have three teachers who serve a total of eighty children and that number continues to increase. One of our teachers is receiving service training from the Government for early childhood education. This is our first year for the pre-school and we are busy setting up to meet the highest standards for children to receive the best education. The preschool runs from 8 am to noon, Monday through Friday. We provide porridge daily to all the children during their break time.
We are excited to watch as God continues to move through the children at Neema Pre-School.
