8 new children were added to the Ray of Hope family at Shimba Hills.

The Ray of Hope Village Center was built in the Shimba Hills district by Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in 1983 - 1984 for the purpose of training, evangelism, and mercy ministry. About six years ago, the center was closed and vacated.

The leaders and founders of Ray of Hope were seeking the
Lord in the city of Nairobi, they sensed God was leading them to continue what God had been doing through this ministry serving the area through community development, serving orphans, serving disadvantaged children, serving church leaders, and providing missionary training.

In October of 2005, John Kisamwa (pictured below with his wife Habona) moved into the area and started repair work on what would become the home of Ray of Hope Children Center and other ministries of Ray of Hope.

Ray of Hope Village is located sixty kilometers south of Mombasa in Kwale district at Makwangani Village. The area has mixed tribes with the majority being the Digos who have not been reached with the gospel.

This ministry is targeting two locations in the area with the goal of providing quality health care for the people. We would also like to provide immunization services for many children in the area, plus host primary health care seminars for the communities to achieve the global goal of better health care for everyone.

While our medical outreaches provide assistance on a short term basis the clinics would be a long term solution at Shimba Hills and in the Tana River District. Our hope is to be able to build a clinic in each of these areas.

Values:

  • To provide quality education, health care, food and shelter to orphans and disadvantaged children.
  • To provide a family environment where the children can grow with self worth and learn to love God.
  • To disciple the children and youth of ROH in Godly values and skill training.
  • To disciple the children and youth in the Shimba Hills Community through youth camps and retreats.
  • To expose and disciple short term volunteers to the ministry to children and youth.
  • To serve the community through the pre-school program and the medical clinic.
  • To care for the needy and orphans through sponsorship programs.
  • To promote unity in the body of Christ
